Description

This kit consists of a PFL-24B-WW Warm White 2,700 Kelvin color temperature high CRI wide spectrum 24 LED flex strip with a 12 inch nominal active area, and a 12 volt battery holder (BHC1-8AA-12V), with adapter clip. This unit is a professional 2,700 Kelvin high CRI LED light source for building props and scenery. The LED Warm White light operates from 12 volts DC at 333ma nominal current with light output of 350 lumens typical. The Warm White light color temperature is 2,700 Kelvin nominal with a color rendering index of 93 CRI nominal. The kit can be operated from 8 AA batteries (batteries not included). The flex strip has an adhesive foam tape backing for mounting to surfaces. The ends of the strip have 22” ref. length cables with male and female DC barrel connectors of the 2.1mm x 5.5mm size. The overall length of the strip and cables is 56” nominal.

Notes:

  • External power supplies must be 12 volts DC. The power connector needs to be compatible with the 2.1mm x 5.5mm DC barrel connector with a positive center connection.
  • See Application Note AN-1707 for additional information.
  • This strip may be linked without soldering using the pigtail cables. The total power of linked strips should not exceed 30 watts when operated at 12 volts DC. A maximum of 7 links strips should not be exceeded.

Application Note AN-1707

Incandescent lights typically have a color temperature of 2,700 Kelvin. These traditional light sources use tungsten filament which produces a warmer color temperature near 2,700 Kelvin. Other variants of incandescent light sources have a higher color temperature such as quartz halogen lamps that operate near 3,200 Kelvin with a “crisper”, whiter appearance.  In many prop, theatrical scenery, and filmmaking applications the warmer appearance and ambience created by the traditional 2,700 Kelvin light bulb is highly desirable. The color temperature of 2,700 Kelvin is used in order to achieve an intended warm comfortable lighting environment. In order for LED lights to replicate accurately a 2,700 Kelvin light of an incandescent light bulb, a wide spectrum is needed. The PFL-24B-WW light strip uses a blue LED chip with phosphor conversion to build a wide spectrum that provides a high Color Rendering Index (CRI).  A “perfect” source will have a CRI rating of 100; the PFL-24B-WW achieves a high color quality of 93 CRI nominal.

Applications for the PFL-24B-WW:

  • Stage props
  • Theatrical scenery
  • Filmmaking soft light panels
  • Escape rooms
  • Themed entertainment projects
  • Photography soft boxes
  • Indie filmmaking lights
